I believe that Glenn Greenwald is focusing too narrowly on technical questions of legal or moral culpability for specific acts of political violence, and failing to address larger questions of why such acts are becoming more normal - even acceptable or desirable - to so many people in the USA. One place to look for answers is our educational system, where far too little emphasis is placed on developing critical thinking skills, which in turn require cultivating habits of respectful listening and patient civil discourse, as well as high rates of literacy and concentrated attention.

I don't know that liberals and conservatives are equally hateful and aggressive-at least in last 10 years-liberals in my experience are disappointed when the attempted assassinations of Trump are unsuccessful, and most certainly would celebrate if Trump had been killed. (during a volunteer stint at church this morning another volunteer expressed her disappointment at another failed assassination attempt)

Conservatives I know disliked, and heavily criticized Biden, but did not hope and wish he would be assassinated-they just wanted him out of office.
