Netanyahu has been trying to destroy what he sees as the enemies of Israel his entire life.

Who doubts that he is in DC to insist that 'trump' attack Iran?

And who can doubt that this man has some kind of malevolent influence and control over trump?

It's so nice to read one of these again! Glenn, you wrote

I agree that it has all the hallmarks of the same playbook; but in considering the various factors at play here I see the US government/Trump Administration as *highly constrained* in it's ability to just do whatever Netanyahu wants even if the administration wanted to, and furthermore, I suspect there is an understanding in the US military that going to war with Iran is not something the US military is capable of at this time, especially considering the role public opinion plays in matters of war and peace.

This analysis suggest, to me, that Trump may be signaling "this is the same playbook" but this time have a different agenda. If we consider the last so-called 12-day war, it's clear that the ability of Iran to project military power in the region is very sophisticated, and the ability of the US to deter them is limited and extremely expensive.

It's hard to predict future events, but in these types of moves like sending a carrier, it's clear some kind of plan is being put into motion. Scary times.
